Not only did the Pittsburgh Penguins fall tonight to the Florida Panthers in regulation, but they also lost one of the most important forwards on the roster - who happens to be the subject of immense trade speculation.
Jake Guentzel didn't play any shifts in the final half of the third period, and it was confirmed afterward by head coach Mike Sullivan that he's being evaluated for an upper-body injury.
"He is being evaluated right now for an upper-body injury," Sullivan explained.
Guentzel, who is a pending free agent, has reportedly rejected a long term contract extension with the Penguins, leading to his name being included in trade rumors as the NHL Trade Deadline approaches on March 8.
In the 49 games that he's played this season, Guentzel has scored 22 goals with 29 assists.
