Hockey is fun again in the Motor City, and the Detroit Red Wings are set to make a realistic run at the postseason for the first time in eight years, which happens to be the longest recent period of time in franchise history of playing beyond the end of the regular season schedule!

Not only have the additions to the roster by GM Steve Yzerman paid dividends in the standings, but the Red Wings are also scoring at a rate that hasn't been done in years. Additionally, they secured 20 points in January for the first time since 2012, the same season they won a new NHL-record 23 straight games on home ice.

And fans are taking notice, with a 22% increase in viewership, according to the latest numbers that were recently released by the Sports Business Journal. They're joined by the Anaheim Ducks, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Islanders, and New York Rangers as the NHL clubs who have seen the biggest gains in local viewership.

Meanwhile, the Washington Capitals, San Jose Sharks, Tampa Bay Lightning, St. Louis Blues and Boston Bruins have experienced the biggest drops in local viewership:

Of course, it's no surprise considering the longtime Red Wings broadcast duo of Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond have consistently been voted amongst the best in the NHL!

Other than a frustrating stumble in December, the Red Wings have been an enjoyable viewing experience, and those numbers are hopefully only going to go up!
