Major controversy reported at Flames’ morning skate

That was unexpected…

On Monday, the Calgary Flames pulled a move, claiming Radim Zohorna off waivers from the Pittsburgh Penguins. The left winger took part in 17 games with the Pens last season, recoding two goals and four assists. He also netted 12 goals and nine assists over 39 games in the American Hockey League.

He looks like a great addition to the Flames’ line-up, however, Wes Gilbertson of Postmedia reported on Wednesday that some kind of controversy had taken place during the Flames’ morning skate…

And it just sounds like the most ridiculous and unexpected controversy. This is what Gilbertson reports:

“Major controversy at Flames morning skate in Winnipeg, where teammates were trying to tell Nikita Zadorov that his nickname is now ‘Little Z.’ Apparently they’ve decided that Radim Zohorna is taller. Hence, a new ‘Big Z.’ Developing story.”

I could swear that Gilbertson was poking fun at the ridiculous situation, but then fans jumped in, sharing their opinion on what’s happening and how Zadorov still deserves the nickname…

This can’t be serious?

Isn’t everyone aware that the REAL Big Z is Zdeno Chara - whether he plays or not???

Since the start of training camp, Zadorov has earned praise from his teammates and head coach Darryl Sutter.

“Z’s had a really good camp,” Sutter said of the Russian defender who is seeking a bigger role. “He’s pushing to play higher and play more, play situations.”

However, I am sure his nickname has nothing to do with this!

This is a joke right?
