The Los Angeles Kings have shipped out forward Brendan Lemieux to the Philadelphia Flyers in return for Zack MacEwen.

The Flyers also receive a fifth-round pick in 2024 in the transaction.

Ahead of the matchup against the Montreal Canadiens last night, Lemieux was activated from the non-roster list. He however remained out of the Kings ‘ lineup versus the Canadiens as a healthy scratch.

Though Lemieux was not a star player in LA, the move comes as a surprise seeing how active the Kings had already been on the market and how forward depth could be an issue in a long playoff stretch...

The son of former NHLer Claude Lemieux, Brendan has managed to put up just three assists in 27 games this season. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer and carries a $1.35 million cap hit.

As for MacEwen, he has recorded four goals and five assists in 46 games so far this season for the Flyers, his second in Philadelphia after kicking off his career with the Vancouver Canucks.

The 26-year-old is set to become a restricted free agent after the season and carries a cap hit of $925,000.
