The Philadelphia Flyers have have won just one of their last 11 straight games and fans keep wondering what will happen next for this franchise.

Fans are calling for head coach Dave Hakstol’s head, while speculation is starting to arise over possible trades GM Ron Hextall could or should make in the coming weeks.

During Saturday night’s Headlines segment on Hockey Night in Canada, Nick Kypreos reported forward Wayne Simmonds could start to pop up in trade chatter as the Feb. 26 deadline approaches. Kypreos's colleague, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman explained during the first intermission of the New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins' matchup last night, that Simmonds could indeed find himself on the trade block.

But, there might be one problem. Simmonds is very liked around the NHL; the guy has recorded five seasons with more than 25 goals and is explosive up front and plays with a rare intensity. However, Friedman revealed last night that Simmonds is playing hurt, and rival teams might hesitate to acquire him without knowing how serious his injury is.

Simmonds, 29, has one-year left on his contract after this season, comes with a $3.975 million salary cap hit, and his deal includes a 12-team no-trade clause.

In 27 games with the Flyers so far this season, Simmonds has amassed eight goals and 15 points, along with 25 penalty minutes.
