Straight from Blues GM Doug Armstrong this morning.
Officially, the St. Louis Blues have released veteran forward Milan Lucic from his professional tryout (PTO) contract. Unofficially though, the player and the team are still working towards a partnership.
Lucic, of course, was injured while under contract with the Blues and is currently rehabbing what's believed to be a lower body injury. Blues GM Doug Armstrong said today though that Lucic's PTO will be extended in 10 days increments and that he'll be another chance to stick with the team on an in-season PTO... which, frankly I didn't even know was an option.
From Rutherford:
"He got banged up the last couple (of preseason) games. We're going to rehab him here, get him back up health-wise to 100% and likely reconnect on an in-season PTO to get him up and running and see where he's at then."
PTO's have exclusively been used in preseason and training camp scenarios in the past, so I believe this is the first case of a PTO being used during the regular season.
