Manning blows up Wilson with a huge hit to the head.

While this was without question a hit to the head, there is some room to debate when it comes to whether or not that was intentional.

On Wednesday night, Flyers forward Brandon Manning absolutely blew up Capitals forward Tom Wilson during the finals minutes of a critical Game 4, a potential elimination game for Philadelphia. The hit left Wilson down on the ice and had the crowd roaring, but unfortunately the replay revealed the primary point of contact was Wilson's head.

The easy story here would be to suggest that this was a way to seek revenge for the injury to Scott Laughton earlier in the night, but the fact that the primary point of contact was the head may not have been intentional at all. It's certainly worth noting, as did the broadcast crew, that Wilson does spin around as the hit is coming in, and at the very least, plays a role in impacting where the hit lands.

No doubt the NHL will take a look at this hit and make their own determination.
