Maple Leaf heads to the locker room during the first period.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are shorthanded early tonight.

Although it is not clear at this time why the absence has occurred, it is clear that Maple Leafs defenseman William Lagesson has left the game and retreated to the Maple Leafs locker room. It did not appear as though Lagesson suffered any obvious injury during the course of play, although it is always possible for the cameras or myself to miss something, and no official update has been provided on Lagesson at this time.
