Peter Holland knows his opportunity to cash in is now.
It appears that the Toronto Maple Leafs' forward is looking for a substantial raise in salary, something that the team would prefer avoid. According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, Holland is seeking a $2.1-million contract, while the Maple Leafs are countering with $900,000 deal. In essence Holland is looking for a $1.325-million raise for next season.
Holland and the Leafs have a scheduled arbitration hearing two days from now.
The team elected to place him on waivers on Friday and he was unclaimed as of Saturday.
The 25-year old managed to hit a career high during the 2015-16 campaign with 27 points in 65 games.
