The Leafs are out on him.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have already made several additions to their roster, and were said to be linked to Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Brett Pesce. However, that no longer appears to be the case.
Pesce, who has been rumored to be on the trading block as he's entering the final year of his contract, is still being pursued by the likes of the Seattle Kraken and Calgary Flames - but not the Leafs any longer.
It was a report from David Pagnotta of the Fourth Period late last month that indicated the the Leafs were among the handful of teams who have expressed an interest in trading for him.
Drafted 66th overall by the Hurricanes in 2013, Pesce appeared in all 82 regular season games last year and racked up five goals with 25 assists.
