The two contenders make a player swap.
The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Colorado Avalanche have made a swap.
According to an official announcement from the Maple Leafs, they have traded veteran forward Denis Malgin to the Avalanche in exchange for veteran forward Dryden Hunt.
The Leafs lose a centerman in Malgin and gain a left winger in Hunt in this deal but other than that the two players have performed in similar roles thus far this season.
Malgin has made 23 appearance for the Leafs and has 2 goals and 2 assists to his name for a combined total of 4 points, and he currently boasts a plus minus rating of -1 on the season.
Dryden on the other hand has 25 appearances for the Avalanche with 1 goal and no assists and is currently a -7 on the season.
Both men carry very similar cap hits as well, with a difference of only $12,500 between their two average annual values and that cap savings will be going the way of the Avalanche in this deal.
