Maple Leafs and Rangers set stage for heavyweight showdown.
The Maple Leafs and Rangers may both be looking to send a message on Saturday night.
The stage is set for Saturday night in Toronto.
It appears as though both the Toronto Maple Leafs and the New York Rangers will be looking to send a message this evening with both teams dressing their respective enforcer for their Saturday night showdown.
Although both Rangers forward Matt Rempe and Maple Leafs forward Ryan Reaves have been healthy scratches at times this season, both men will be dressing tonight when the Rangers and Leafs square off. That sets the stage for a potential heavyweight clash between the two men, although whether or not we will get one remains to be seen.
It wouldn't be the first time the two men go toe to toe on the ice, with Rempe and Reaves having previously dropped the gloves back in March of 2024. Although Rempe had built a reputation for throwing caution to the wind at that point in the season, he showed much more respect for Reaves than he had his previous opponents and did his best to keep the Maple Leafs enforcer at a distance.
Both men would trade heavy blows but it was fairly evenly matched with no real clear winner emerging from the contest. Both men appeared satisfied with their performance after the fact, so perhaps we will get a more conclusive winner should the gloves come off again on Saturday night.
