He's been out of action since January 17.
The bad news for the Toronto Maple Leafs is that goaltender Matt Murray's injury woes have continued, as he's missed multiple weeks this year due to a variety of ailments. But the good news is that he appears to be making progress in a return to action.
According to head coach Sheldon Keefe, Murray will be joining the team for practice tomorrow and then will be accompanying them on their upcoming five game road swing.
"I think you'll seem him join practice tomorrow with us and the expectation is that he'll join us on the road trip," Keefe said of Murray.
In his first season with the Maple Leafs, Murray has amassed a record of 11-5-2 with a 2.73 goals against average and .911 save percentage. He'll be eligible to be activated from Long Term Injured Reserve as soon as March 1.
The Leafs will be tested extensively on this upcoming road swing, beginning Sunday night against the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena. They'll then be facing off against the Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames, Vancouver Canucks, and then flying across the continent for a matchup against the New Jersey Devils.
