The Toronto Maple Leafs are going to be without a valuable but injury prone veteran defenseman for the foreseeable future, as blue liner Jake Muzzin has been placed on LTIR with a neck injury that he suffered in last week's setback against the Arizona Coyotes. But unfortunately, the bad injury news doesn't stop there.

They'll also be without 4th line forward Kyle Clifford, as he's also been placed on Injured Reserve. Meanwhile, GM Kyle Dubas has called up a reinforcement from the American Hockey League affiliate Toronto Marlies in the form of defenseman Filip Král.

Per the Leafs official Public Relations Twitter feed:

"The Maple Leafs have recalled D Filip Král from the Toronto Marlies. F Kyle Clifford has been placed on injured reserve."

Since being recalled from the Marlies, the veteran Clifford has skated in two games with the Leafs, registering one assist.

The Czech-born Král was originally selected 149th overall by the Maple Leafs in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. Last season was his first full campaign with the Marlies, appearing in 59 games while scoring three goals and 18 assists.
