Maple Leafs confirm the worst for Stolarz and stun with new goalie plan for Game 2

THIS JUST IN : Toronto reveals lineup for tonight’s Game 2 vs. Florida. Full details below:

Game 2 takes place later tonight between Toronto and Florida in their second round series of the postseason and the Maple Leafs will be without goalie Anthony Stolarz.

Once in the Leafs’ dressing room, it was quickly noticed that there was no stall for Stolarz, who left Game 1 on Monday after getting hit in the head by Panthers center Sam Bennett’s forearm as he was skating past the crease. Stolarz stayed on the ice a while, but stayed in the game, only to head to the bench minutes later when he was seen vomiting. He was then transported by ambulance to a hospital for evaluation.

Earlier this morning, Matt Murray was seen attending practice in Toronto and found his stall in the dresssing room afterwards.

It has been confirmed that Stolarz is still recovering, there is unfortunately no timelime for his return. And so, for tonight’s Game 2, Joseph Woll will be the starter and will be backed up by Murray.

On Monday night when Woll replaced Stolarz in between the pipes, Dennis Hildeby got dressed and stepped in as the third emergency goalie for the remainder of the contest. Now Murray could be considered as a backup if Woll is the one in net tonight. Hildeby started six games for the Maple Leafs, posting a 3-3-0 record with an .878 save percentage this season while Murray played just two games with Toronto.

No changes are expected tonight for the Leafs in Game 2 vs. Florida, with the forward lines and defense remaining the same.

Game 2 is on at 7ET tonight in Toronto.
