The Toronto Maple Leafs have made a roster decision this afternoon, electing to waive forward Nicolas Aube-Kubel.
According to head coach Sheldon Keefe, things just haven't clicked for him in Toronto.
"I've talked to (Nicholas) quite a bit right from preseason all the way through about his game and really pushing and taking advantage of opportunities that he gets," he said. "And it just hasn't quite happened here for him."
In six games played, he's registered zero points along with a -1 rating. He was signed as a free-agent from the Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche this past offseason. Of course, as you may remember, it was Aube-Kubel who accidentally dented the Stanley Cup while falling to the ice as he raced to take part in the traditional team photo.
He was originally drafted in 2014 by the Philadelphia Flyers; in 129 career games, he's scored 21 goals with 29 assists.
