The Toronto Maple Leafs have a serious goaltending problem as the Stanley Cup Playoffs approaching. Starting net minder Jack Campbell is still on the shelf with an injury, though prior to getting hurt, he was nowhere near the form that enabled him to earn his first ever All-Star appearance.
Meanwhile, Petr Mrazek has been extremely shaky, and was even waived earlier in the month before being brought back to the net by the Leafs. Of course, he was supplanted by rookie Erik Kallgren, who certainly can't be relied upon to lead the Leafs to playoff success.
Tonight against the Boston Bruins, the Leafs suffered another setback in their goaltending situation, as Mrazek was injured during the first period and limped off the ice towards the locker room.
Soon afterwards, Toronto's official Twitter account announced that Mrazek had indeed suffered another groin injury and is ruled out for the rest of tonight's game.
Mrazek has already missed considerable time this season with a groin injury. Should he miss more time, the Leafs may have to face the prospect of a Campbell/Kallgren duo in the postseason.
