The Toronto Maple Leafs were supposed to start Matt Murray in net against the Ottawa Senators, however, a last-second change was made and now Ilya Samsonov is getting the start.

According to insider Elliotte Friedman, Murray, who remains on the bench as the backup for the game, could have been hurt in warmups. Friedman posted on Twitter:

“Game crew just showed high shot in warmup from Nylander that seemed to sting Murray, but no confirmation if that’s the reason for the switch.”

This morning, head coach Sheldon Keefe declared Murray his starter this morning, and Samsonov stayed out for extra work. However, an obvious change came up and it remains to be seen if Murray will be available for Sunday's contest against the Washington Capitals.

Keefe had said how he wanted to lighten the workload for Samsonov, who has posted a 14-0-1 record at Scotiabank Arena this season. But he is in between the pipes tonight.
