The Toronto Maple Leafs are in a serious transition period after having moved on from general manager Kyle Dubas earlier today. Additionally, former Leafs forward Jason Spezza who served as special assistant to the GM has also decided to part ways with the team.

Right now, the status of head coach Sheldon Keefe has yet to be decided, as team president Brendan Shanahan stated that he'd make that call after the new general manager is brought aboard, with the focus on making that happen sooner rather than later.

But in the meantime, the news of the departure of Dubas has caused quite a stir in the hockey world, especially in Toronto. And according to Sports Illustrated's Mike Stephens, the move didn't exactly go over well with multiple members of the organization.

One could reasonably assume that Spezza wasn't thrilled with the news of Dubas being let go, which may have led to his resigning from his position.

This could be a major summer of upheaval for the Leafs, and the Dubas-Spezza duo could just have been the first of many potential dominos to fall.
