The Toronto Maple Leafs have made it official.
A little earlier today I reported that the Maple Leafs and forward Max Domi were finalizing the final details of a new contract, and the Maple Leafs have now confirmed the news.
The news was broken by National Hockey League insider Chris Johnston, who on Sunday revealed that Domi is now officially signed to a 4 year contract that will carry an average annual value and salary cap hit of $3.75 million per season. Domi's ask was reportedly a little higher than this, so it appears to have been some shrewd negotiating on the part of Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving to get this deal done less than 24 hours before the opening of free agency in the National Hockey League.
Domi appeared in 80 regular season games for the Maple Leafs, scoring 9 goals and adding 38 assists for a total of 47 points in the regular season, and had a goal and 3 assists for a total of 4 points over the Maple Leafs 7 playoff appearances.
Update: Max Domi has published an incredible message to his fans in response to today's signing.
