Head coach Sheldon Keefe provided the news.
A bit of unfortunate news was released by the Toronto Maple Leafs regarding their defense, which hasn't been healthy for most of the entire season.
TJ Brodie, who has already missed considerable time this year, has been placed on Injured Reserve with a rib injury, and there is no timeline as to an approximate return to action. He will be required to be out of action for at least one full week retroactive to his last game played, which was Saturday night at home against Detroit.
However, the Leafs are somehow undefeated in regulation when Brodie has missed action, going a total of 10-0-3 in his absence. In the meantime, forward Bobby McCann has been recalled from the American Hockey League affiliate Toronto Marlies.
In separate news, superstar forward Auston Matthews was absent from practice due to what was being described by head coach Sheldon Keefe as a "maintenance day".
The Leafs are next in action tomorrow night at Scotiabank Arena against the visiting Nashville Predators before making the short trip across the border to Little Caesars Arena to take on the Red Wings.
