Maple Leafs release discouraging update on Matthew Knies
He left the game clearly hurt and didn't return.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are learning the tough lesson that their Original 6 rival Boston Bruins discovered late last month - the Florida Panthers are no pushovers, not in the least.
Not only did the Panthers shock the entire sports world by defeating the 65-win Bruins in Round 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but they've also stunned the Maple Leafs by taking both of the first two games of Round 2 at Scotiabank Arena in downtown Toronto. They're heading back home with a 2-0 series lead, and so far are writing the story of the postseason.
But that doesn't spell the end of the bad news for the Maple Leafs. Forward Matthew Knies, who has played well in his first taste of NHL hockey in the Stanley Cup Playoffs with four points in six games, left tonight's game and did not return to action after being driven into the boards and then tackled to the ice by Panthers forward Sam Bennett.
Head coach Sheldon Keefe would explain that Bunting having left tonight's game was not a "positive" sign, but didn't have any further information on the health of the young forward.
The Maple Leafs head back to Florida with their backs against the wall as they'll be taking on the Panthers and looking to get back into the series in Game 3 on Sunday evening from FLA Live Arena.
