The Toronto Maple Leafs have released the first official update on Chris Tanev.

According to an official announcement, Tanev has been discharged from a hospital in Philadelphia after being kept overnight for precautionary reasons. The good news here is that Tanev appears to be healthy enough to travel with the Maple Leafs announcing that he is returning home to Toronto.

Tanev was injured after he collided with Philadelphia Flyers star forward Matvei Michkov during a game on Saturday night, with the awkward collision between the two men appearing to be entirely accidental.

In spite of that Tanev appeared to be seriously injured on the play and would fall to the ice where he would remain motionless for an extended period of time. Tanev would remain down on the ice so long in fact that a stretcher was eventually brought out onto the ice and Tanev would be loaded up onto the stretcher before being carted off. Tanev did give a little thumbs up to let fans know that he was, at least relatively speaking, doing ok but it was a very scary scene to witness.

It was especially scary given that Tanev was playing in his first game back after missing several games as a result of a concussion.

Thankfully today's news is good news but there has been no word on how long Tanev may be out for as a result of this latest injury.
