Fans have been waiting weeks for revenge on Gudas and now they won't get it.
The Toronto Maple Leafs fan base has been waiting for their chance to witness their team get revenge. Earlier this month the Maple Leafs saw their captain's season come to a premature end when Auston Matthews was on the receiving end of a knee on knee hit courtesy of Anaheim Ducks captain Radko Gudas.
Not only was Matthews injured by an illegal hit, but many felt that Gudas got off lightly with only a 5 game suspension, despite costing Matthews the remainder of the 2025-26 National Hockey League regular season, courtesy of NHL Player Safety.
That left the Maple Leafs with one chance to get a measure of revenge of their own, an upcoming matchup between the Maple Leafs and Ducks on Monday night.
Unfortunately it now sounds like the Maple Leafs may not get their chance to confront Gudas over the hit, with the Ducks captain currently sidelined by what may prove to be a serious injury. Gudas was reportedly spotted in a walking boot, and has been forced to miss Saturday's game against the Edmonton Oilers.
I know many fans will be sad to learn that revenge has been snatched out of their hands.
