There was a clear winner.
'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse; because everyone was wondering what the Maple Leafs would be watching on their couch.
If you were to ask most people what their favorite holiday movie happens to be I would wager that most would be able to quickly come up with an answer, and that's exactly what the Leafs media team did this week when they dropped a pop quiz on several members of the Maple Leafs roster and coaching staff.
As the players and coaches were coming off the ice they were asked to quickly name which movie they would be watching on Christmas Eve and unsurprisingly the quiz produced a wide variety of responses.
The clear favorites in this one appeared to be Elf and Home Alone, with a number of other Christmas classics like A Christmas Story, The Grinch and even Die Hard getting a shout out as well.
There was one answer though that appeared to catch some by surprise and that came from Toronto Maple Leafs captain John Tavares. Tavares, who appeared to be the first off the ice to answer the question, picked Polar Express as his movie of choice.
"That's a tough one," said Tavares. "Polar Express."
Tavares' answer elicited a hilarious look from Maple Leafs star forward Auston Matthews who appeared to be quite surprised at his captain's selection. Matthews wasted no time making his choice however, casting his ballot for one of the clear favorites.
"Did he say Polar Express?" asked an incredulous Matthews before adding "Home Alone."
While Home Alone appeared to garner the second most votes, Elf got an incredible run of votes at one point that saw heavy support from the Leafs goaltenders and coaching staff, including from head coach Sheldon Keefe himself.
