Marc-Andre Fleury had an incredible message for Louis Domingue before tonight's game

The two Quebecois goaltenders come together at center ice for a very cool exchange.

In case you missed it this evening, New York Rangers netminder Louis Domingue got a win in his first NHL start since January of 2022 when he was with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Domingue was thrust into action due to injuries to Rangers starter Igor Shesterkin and backup Jonathan Quick and looked ready to seize the opportunity. The 31 year old native of Saint-Hyachinthe, Quebec stood tall and looked completely in control to help his team earn a tidy 4-1 victory over the visiting Minnesota Wild.

“To me, he was in place on everything. I thought he played a heck of a game,’' Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette said of Domingue after the game. ”He really stepped up in that second period when I think they fired 30 attempts at our net. Ultimately, he gave us a chance at 1-1 pushing into the third period.”

In 3rd period Domingue made an incredible glove save off former Ranger Vinni Lettieri, prompting fans at Madison Square Garden to start chanting 'Louie! Louie!'.

“It was an awesome experience,’' Domingue said. ”I wish my kids would have been here to see that but I know they were watching at home. Hopefully I get to share one with them.”

The coolest part of the game for me though came before the puck even dropped to open the contest. During warmups while Domingue was stretching near center ice, Wild goaltender and fellow Quebec native Marc-Andre Fleury sauntered over to give Domingue a little inspiration. You couldn't see what was said between the two goaltenders while watching at home, but Domingue himself shared what Fleury said to him.

Marc-Andre Fleury is an international treasure.

I know I've said this before, but I'm going to really, really, REALLY miss this guy when he finally decides to retire. He's been a treat to watch his entire career and he doesn't seem to have an enemy in the world. Gotta love The Flower.
