Beloved goalie Marc-Andre Fleury joined the Pittsburgh Penguins for practice this morning and many fans attended to get a chance to see Flower in action and in his yellow pads again.

Fleury, who retired this past offseason, is joining the Penguins on a professional tryout and practiced with the team on Friday before suiting up with the team one last time during Saturday’s preseason game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

While his PTO was just an administrative procedure to get him back in Pittsburgh for one preseason contest, it feels like today’s practice and pure joy playing with his former teammates got Fleury to reconsider.

The guy is known to be a jokester, even his son James followed in his footsteps, pulling some pranks in the dressing room on Friday.

And that’s why, when Fleury was asked about his chat with Penguins goaltenders Sergei Murashov and Filip Larsson during practice, Flower answered this when asked what was said and what advice he’d give them:

“You better try hard because I’m coming to take your spot.”

During the summer, Fleury’s own agent Allan Walsh had revealed that five teams in the NHL had reached out to him in order to convince his client to come out of retirement. Fleury spent 13 seasons with the Penguins before spending time with the Vegas Golden Knights, Chicago Blackhawks, and Minnesota Wild. He helped the Penguins win three Stanley Cups and is one of the best goaltenders in NHL history. Fleury retired following the 2024-25 season after 21 NHL seasons.

Tomorrow’s game is expected to be emotional, but fans want to enjoy every waking moment and give Fleury the Pittsburgh farewell he truly deserves.

Unless he was serious about competing for a spot in the Pittsburgh’s crease for the upcoming season…
