Crosby surprises his old friend and moves him to tears.
They say that hockey is a brotherhood and as far as the National Hockey League is concerned there may be no clearer example than the bond between longtime teammates Marc-Andre Fleury and Sidney Crosby from their time shared together as Pittsburgh Penguins.
Last week was a big one for Fleury who was inducted into the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Hall of Fame, a well deserved reward for the native of Sorel, Quebec, one who served as an excellent ambassador for his home province throughout his NHL career.
Fleury of course was in attendance and was fully aware of the fact that he would be inducted, but what caught him by surprise was an appearance from his former teammate. As Fleury sat in attendance for the ceremony, Sidney Crosby suddenly popped up on screen with a very special message for his former teammate.
Although Fleury did his best to contain his emotions, it was evident immediately from his body language that he was truly touched by Crosby going the extra mile for his friend. Crosby's message made it even more difficult for Fleury to contain his emotions and he could be seen visibly wiping tears from his eyes at points in the video.
Fleury of course has long since left the Pittsburgh Penguins, going on to play extensively in the NHL after his time in Pittsburgh as a member of the Vegas Golden Knights, Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota Wild. In spite of the fact that his final season as a Penguin was during the 2016-17 NHL season, it's clear that the bond these two formed during their time together in Pittsburgh is a bond that will last a lifetime.
