Marc-Andre Fleury pulled after 4 goals on just 14 shots.
A very bad night for Fleury.
It was not a good night for Marc-Andre Fleury, so much so that it has resulted in Minnesota Wild head coach Dean Evason pulling a goaltender for only the second time in his career as head coach of the Minnesota Wild, the only head coaching job he's had at the NHL level. It does say something when a coach that is usually so hesitant to make a move of this nature, pulls the trigger on taking his goalie out of the game.
Fleury was pulled on Saturday night after allowing 4 goals on just 14 shots, some of which were bad goals on the part of Fleury but others which were more a result of the entire team breaking down. Funnily enough it would be former Minnesota Wild forward Kevin Fiala who would start things off on the wrong foot for Fleury, when he picked up his first point as a member of the L.A. Kings.
Gabe Vilardi would be the next to score for the Kings, catching Fleury out of position after a bad turnover by the Wild.
Drew Doughty would pick up the third of the night for the Kings, with Fleury seemingly never seeing the shot after a good series of passes from the Kings who were on the power play.
I believe it was this goal, the ugliest of the night from Fleury, that would seal his fate in the eyes of Evason. This shot came from Alex Iafallo.
Fleury's night ends with an abysmal .714 save percentage., which seems concerning given the .800 save percentage he recorded against the New York Rangers during the Wild's season opener this past Thursday.
