A must see moment for every hockey fan on Saturday night.
There is no question that beloved National Hockey League goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury left a lasting legacy in the City of Pittsburgh, one that has lasted far after he was shipped off to the Vegas Golden Knights and one that will likely last far beyond our lifetimes.
On Saturday night, Fleury took the net for what might be the final time after he signed a professional tryout offer with the Penguins this summer. The PTO allowed him to work out with his former team in training camp and also made him eligible for the preseason, an eligibility he put to good use during the third period of Saturday night's preseason game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Fleury took the net in relief after the first two periods, a plan that Penguins head coach Dan Muse had laid out before the start of the game, and the reception when Fleury took the net was nothing short of incredible.
First here is how fans reacted once they realized Fleury was in goal:
The fans in Pittsburgh weren't done there however, drowning Fleury out in chants as well as cheers. During a relatively quiet moment in the third period fans broke out into incredibly loud chants of "one more year" making it clear that they weren't ready for the man known as Flower to call it a career.
It has been an incredible night in Pittsburgh so far and the best part is that it still isn't over.
Update: Fleury's final goodbye to the City of Pittsburgh can be seen here.
