The Boston Bruins took on the New York Islanders in a spirited tilt that saw the black and gold sweaters come out with a 3-1 win.

A particularly dangerous play occurred in the third period when Bruins' pest Brad Marchand caught John Tavares with a high hit to the face with his stick.

Tavares was shaken up on the play but managed to stay in the game. Marchand, for his part, was assessed a 5 minute major on the play.

Marchand has been suspended multiple times for various acts, most notably slewfooting/clipping and spearing. While he is undoubtedly one of the league's most skilled forwards, he tends to take things too far when it comes to the agitating aspect of his game.

His status as a repeat offender will almost certainly draw the attention of the NHL Player Safety Department.
