Marchand releases a statement, calls out NHL for backing out of Olympic agreement
The proud Canadian doesn't hold back! Expletives and all!

This just in, Boston Bruins forward and proud Team Canada member Brad Marchand released a statement through his own social media channels on the NHL's decision to opt out of the 2022 Olympics.
Here it is:
Absolutely, 100% BANG ON!
Well said, Marchy.
The NHL changes around the rules whenever it suits them, but when they have to make a concession that serves the players or the fans they'll just cite "sorry, these are the rules..." it's an absolute joke and I'm happy that Marchand has the guts to step up and call it like it is.
The fact of the matter is that the NHL absolutely can send their players to the Olympics, it just doesn't serve them financially so you knew all along that they'd find a way to weasel out of their commitment, especially with the convenient excuse of COVID-19 these days.
Honestly, I hope that more players come out and call out the NHL on their BS like Marchand has. Tampa Bay Lightning captain Steven Stamkos has voiced his displeasure at the league's decision, albeit not as pointedly as Marchand has. It'll be interesting to see if Marchand's comments spark any further words from his fellow players, whether they represent Canada, USA, Sweden, Russia or any other international hockey power.
More to come.
