Martin Necas finally signs the big money, long-term contract that he has wanted for years

This just in, the Colorado Avalanche have signed forward Martin Necas to an eight year contract extension worth $11.5 million per season.

Interestingly enough, this deal is just $500,000 per season less than the deal that the Dallas Stars signed Mikko Rantanen to. So, in effect, the Avalanche walked away from Rantanen for just $500,000 per season. While Necas is an excellent hockey player... I know who I'd rather have on my roster for the next 8 seasons...
