Martin St. Louis names the new captain of the Canadiens.
St. Louis makes the announcement.
The Montreal Canadiens once again have themselves a captain.
On Monday morning, Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis officially announced what many already suspected when he named forward Nick Suzuki as the next captain of the Montreal Canadiens.
This truly does make things come full circle for the Canadiens as Suzuki was acquired as part of the trade that sent former Montreal Canadiens captain Max Pacioretty to the Las Vegas Golden Knights. While the Canadiens of course had high hopes for Suzuki when they pulled off the trade, I don't know that anyone in the organization had the foresight to suspect that they would be trading their current captain for their future captain.
Here is your first look at Nick Suzuki with his new "C", unfortunately it also comes with the new sponsorship patch that the Canadiens announced this morning as well.
Suzuki himself would follow up the announcement of his captaincy with the reveal of his 2 alternate captains for this upcoming season. They are Brendan Gallagher and Joel Edmundson, both of whom also wore the new jerseys with the sponsorship patch when unveiling their new "A".
