The Montreal Canadiens suffered a historic defeat at the hands of the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final on Saturday night, but that may not have been the biggest concern for the Canadiens coming out of that game.

Late during the overtime frame, Canadiens star defenseman Lane Hutson was on the receiving end of an awkward hit from Hurricanes forward Taylor Hall, one that left Hutson shaken up. Hutson had initially tried to move out of the way to avoid the impact, but that actually may have made things worse with Hutson's left leg getting caught between Hall and the boards as he closed in for the hit.

The frustration on Hutson's face was obvious as he slammed his stick down to the ice in pain, and the biggest concern would come when Hutson struggled to get back to the bench. The young star limped his way back to the Canadiens bench where he once again appeared to show frustration at being injured, slamming the bench door in anger.

Martin St. Louis did not immediately provide an update on Hutson's status following Game 2, but on Sunday St. Louis spoke to the media and shared the first official update on the young defenseman.

Thankfully the Canadiens fan base can collectively exhale after holding their breath all night with St. Louis sharing good news on Sunday. According to the Habs head coach it sounds like Hutson escaped any serious injury concerns and is expected to be fine to continue playing in the Eastern Conference Final.
