The Canadiens head coach can't believe the call in Game 5.
The Montreal Canadiens were not the least bit happy about this call.
On Friday night, during Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Final between the Canadiens and Carolina Hurricanes, the Habs were left flabbergasted when a coach's challenge in the game's very first period did not go their way.
It would be Hurricanes forward Taylor Hall who would open up the scoring in Game 5 almost exactly midway through the first period, but the Canadiens felt that the goal should come off the board. Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis would challenge the goal due to what the Canadiens perceived as goaltender interference, and it looked as though they might have a case.
As Canadiens goaltender Jakub Dobes attempted to make the save on the play, he was on the receiving end of contact from two Hurricanes players. The most notable contact came from Hurricanes forward Logan Stankoven who crashed into Dobes from the side.
The officials on the ice would look at it once again through video review but after some deliberation the officials would come back with the exact same call, a good goal for the Hurricanes.
It was a costly moment for the Canadiens who not only failed their challenge, but earned a 2 minute minor penalty for delay of game as well as a result.
