Normally you would call signing a player coming off a buyout somewhat of a gamble, but when you consider the price here this isn't much of a risk at all.

The Anaheim Ducks have officially signed forward Mason Raymond who was recently bought out of his contract by the Calgary Flames. While the Ducks did not disclose the financial details of the contract, TVA Sports' Renaud Lavoie is now reporting that the Ducks got a very good deal.

According to Lavoie it's a two-way deal, and Raymond will earned just $675,000 in the National Hockey League, and $225,000 is the American Hockey League, making this an extremely low-risk proposition for Anaheim.

If Raymond struggles like he did in his limited time with the Flames last season, he will likely be buried in the AHL, although the fact that Anaheim is currently desperately in need of forward depth plays in his favor.
