Don’t think the Minnesota Wild are done making noise. After already shocking the hockey world by acquiring Quinn Hughes earlier this season, Wild general manager Bill Guerin could be lining up something even bigger this summer, and the names being floated are massive.

According to insider Michael Russo of The Athletic, Guerin may have intentionally held onto key trade assets at the March 6 deadline with a much larger plan in mind. There is a sense of a potential plan chasing a superstar like Robert Thomas, Brady Tkachuk or even, Auston Matthews.

It’s the kind of speculation that immediately grabs attention, and for good reason. Matthews and Tkachuk are franchise players and captains, both holding full no-movement clauses. Thomas, meanwhile, has a full no-trade clause, but his name was deep in trade chatter around the deadline earlier this month.

Minnesota has the assets to make a serious push. Names like Jesper Wallstedt, Danila Yurov, Charlie Stramel, Adam Benak, and even a 2027 first-round pick could all be in play if Guerin decides to swing big again. And after already proving he’s willing to take risks, no one is ruling it out.

The biggest question, of course, is availability. None of these stars have asked out, at least publicly. But in today’s NHL, situations can change quickly, especially if teams fall short of expectations. If even one of these players becomes available, don’t be surprised if Minnesota is right in the middle of it. Because after the Hughes deal, Guerin has already shown one thing: he’s not afraid to go all in.
