There's a lot of teams who still believe in their playoff chances, but the Colorado Avalanches aren't one of them. Joe Sakic wants to take advantage of the situation where there's few sellers for the number of buyers and ask a boatload for his trading chips.

Ottawa Sun's Bruce Garrioch writes that if the Avalanche are going to deal Duchene, not only will Sakic want a top-four defenceman, a top prospect and a No. 1 pick in return, the indications are there has to be more in the deal for Colorado.

While this sounds like a crazy idea for the Toronto Maple Leafs to acquire Matt Duchene, now could be the perfect time. With Auston Matthews and William Nylander playing their entry-level contract and James Van Riemsdyk signed at a reasonable price, Lou Lamoriello could create a window of Stanley Cup opportunity right now by adding Matt Duchene to the equation.

While it's impossible to know for sure what Sakic could want from the Maple Leafs, according to Bruce Garrioch, it could look like this: Nikita Zaitsev (top-4 defenceman) + Kasperi Kapanen (top Maple Leafs prospect) + a first round pick and possibly Jeremy Bracco or Brendan Leipsic.

What do you think? Blockbuster deal, something we're used to.
