This looks like it has the potential to be quite bad for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Although, at the time of this writing, there has been nothing official from the Maple Leafs' organization, it appears as though veteran goaltender Matt Murray has suffered an injury during the Maple Leafs' morning skate on Saturday morning. It was Maple Leafs beat reporter David Alter who first broke the news, which came after alter spotted Murray moving around in some discomfort on the ice. According to Alter, the veteran netminder immediately sought help from Maple Leafs goalie coach Curtis Sanford, which does not appear to be a good sign.
If there is a silver lining here it's that Murray was able to leave the ice under his own power, so hopefully if there is indeed an injury here it will prove to be a relatively minor one. You can see Murray speaking with the Maple Leafs training staff, before eventually making the decision to leave the ice, in the short clip below:
Murray has had a great many struggles due to injuries throughout his career and one could even make the argument that injuries have been a dominant factor in the struggles he has faced in his most recent NHL campaigns. As a result of this any news of a potential injury to Murray is going to be viewed under a microscope, and no doubt this will prove to be no exception.
We await official comment from the Leafs.
