Matt Murray rejoins the Maple Leafs ahead of Game 2
BREAKING NEWS out of Toronto. Full details below:
Game 2 takes place later tonight between Toronto and Florida in their second round series of the postseason, but the spotlight remains on Panthers center Sam Bennett and Maple Leafs goalie Anthony Stolarz.
The incident occurred midway through the second period of Game 1 Monday when Bennett caught Stolarz in the head with his forearm as he was skating past the crease. Stolarz stayed on the ice a while, but stayed in the game, only to head to the bench minutes later when he was seen vomiting. He was then transported by ambulance to a hospital for evaluation.
No penalty was called on the play and Bennett was not given any supplemental discipline for the incident.
While Leafs head coach Craig Berube has yet to rule Stolarz out for tonight’s match up, Chris Johnston has just reported that Matt Murray is attending practice in Toronto this morning.
On Monday night when Joseph Woll replaced Stolarz in between the pipes, Dennis Hildeby got dressed and stepped in as the third emergency goalie for the remainder of the contest. Now Murray could be considered as a backup if Woll is the one in net tonight. Hildeby started six games for the Maple Leafs, posting a 3-3-0 record with an .878 save percentage this season while Murray played just two games with Toronto.
There is still no indication on what Berube and the Maple Leafs will choose to do for Game 2, but here at Hockey Feed we will keep you posted.
Game 2 is on at 7ET tonight in Toronto.
