He's been out since the 1st week of the season.
The Toronto Maple Leafs took a massive risk when they elected to let the popular Jack Campbell walk this offseason, and in his place bring aboard the former two-time Stanley Cup winner Matt Murray. Of course, Murray's game has fallen on hard times lately, struggling immensely during his final year with the Penguins and subsequent two seasons with the Ottawa Senators. There's also the issue that he's known for being very injury prone.
And unfortunately, Murray was placed on long-term injured reserve with an adductor injury in mid-October. The good news, however, is that he's resumed skating. And while there's no definitive return date, Murray himself stated today after practice that he's in a "day to day" situation.
The Leafs have turned to Erik Kallgren between the pipes for the time being after Ilya Samsonov suffered a lower body injury during Saturday night's game; they've also inked Marlies goaltender Keith Petruzzelli to an NHL entry level contract as an emergency option.
When Murray returns to action, he'll certainly be looking to improve upon his current goals against average of 4.05 and .826 save percentage.
