Matt Rempe begins training with former NHL enforcer.
New York Rangers star Matt Rempe is looking to add some more tools to his game come next season.
The New York Rangers may be getting an upgraded version of their young enforcer come the next National Hockey League season.
This week, former NHL enforcer Georges Laraque revealed that he has been working with young Rangers enforcer Matt Rempe back in Edmonton in preparation for the 2024-25 NHL regular season. Laraque published a few photos showing proof of the fact that he was indeed working with Rempe, as well as Winnipeg Jets prospect Tyrel Bauer who has yet to make his NHL debut.
Laraque also had a warning for anyone looking to challenge Rempe come next season.
"I’m training Matt Rempe and Tyrel Bauer for hockey fighting, this week in Edmonton, at the Silent Ice arena," revealed Laraque. "If you thought Rempe was a problem this year in the NHL, wait till you see him this coming season…"
It seems as though Rempe is intent on improving his fighting ability on the ice ahead of the upcoming NHL season, with the Rangers enforcer already having been spotted working on his fighting skills back in Alberta earlier this month.
That should come as relatively little surprise given the fact that, although they were incredibly exciting, Rempe took a considerable amount of punishment from his opponents during his NHL fights this season. It seems wise for both his long term health and his long term future in the NHL to avoid as much of that punishment as humanly possible.
