Matt Rempe scores the Rangers' first goal of the playoffs.
The first goal of the playoffs for the Rangers, and the first playoff goal of Matt Rempe's NHL career.
You expected that Matt Rempe would have an impact in the opening round playoff series between his New York Rangers and the Washington Capitals, but you probably wouldn't have guessed that he would make this type of impact.
Rempe came up huge for the Rangers on Sunday afternoon when he opened the scoring in the series, beating Capitals goaltender Charlie Lindgren to break the ice.
Rempe's goal would completely change the tone of the game and it seemed as though the jitters had cleared for the Rangers who would continue to pour it on with 2 more goals in the second period, eventually ending the frame with a 3-1 lead over the Capitals.
Rempe isn't just having an impact on the scoresheet either, he's bringing his usual brand of physical play to the series as well.
