With the puck dropping on the New York Rangers and Montreal Canadiens in their first round playoff series tonight, there’s one member of the Blueshirts who’s ready to get things started.

The Rangers posted a photo of forward Mats Zuccarello’s brand new playoff skates to their Twitter account this morning. While it’s not unusual for goaltenders to change up their gear for a post-season run, skaters are usually a little more limited in their abilities to use self-expression and so they have to get more creative. Zuccarello has done just that and will sport new wheels that have his number 36 etched into the side along with his team’s iconic Statue of Liberty insignia.

If the Rangers are to be successful against the Canadiens and their superstar goaltender Carey Price, they’ll need Zuccarello and his new skates to be at their top of their game. The 29 year-old native of Oslo, Norway led the Rangers in scoring this season with 59 points and was instrumental in the Rangers last Stanley Cup run in 2014. If he can build on his success this season and push the Rangers past the Habs, there’s not telling how far his team can go
