Matthew Tkachuk injured in 4 Nations Face-Off Final against Canada
Is the star forward's night over?
This just in, Team USA forward Matthew Tkachuk has reportedly suffered a groin injury in tonight's 4 Nations Face-Off Final against Team Canada.
Tkachuk was seen laboring on the bench near the end of the 2nd period and did not play the final 7 minutes of the period. In fact, he's played less than 7 minutes total through two periods.
ESPN is reporting that Tkachuk is suffering through a groin injury.
He has yet to play a shift in the third period, but he hasn't left the team's bench. He's the role of grocery stick, separating the forwards from the defence on USA's bench.
From NHL insider Elliotte Friedman:
Tkachuk is taking laps, gingerly, during stoppages in play but it doesn't appear that he's well enough to go.
