Matthews works on new move to beat Tkachuk’s goal of the year candidate

We bet he too was blown away and wants to do better!

On Thursday night, our jaws dropped at the end of the Calgary Flames and Nashville Predators game when forward Matthew Tkachuk managed to pull the best goal of the 2019-20 season so far.

Tkachuk jumped on a loose puck and buried it top shelf with an in-between-the-legs shot.

Decidedly, the NHL’s young guns have taken it upon themselves to dazzle us. Earlier this week, Andrei Svechnikov of the Carolina Hurricanes was the first player to pull off the famed “Michigan Move” in an NHL game.

Tkachuk stepped it up with another goal of the year candidate with an absolutely beautiful play, but he might have made someone jealous.

During practice on Friday, Sportsnet’s cameras caught Toronto Maple Leafs star player Auston Matthews working on new moves, quite similar to what Tkachuk managed to pull off on the ice in Nashville last night.

We wonder if Matthews will dare to try this in a game soon and steal the Goal of the Year candidate from Tkachuk.
