We haven't heard a lot from Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi since some pretty horrific news about an offseason surgery went public, but it seems the National Hockey League Entry Draft has gotten the excitement flowing through Domi's body.

On Saturday, the NHL held the second day of the 2026 NHL Entry Draft and it was during Day 2 that the Maple Leafs made a pick that seemed to get the stamp of approval from Domi. The Maple Leafs selected 18 year old forward Zach Olsen from the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League with the 73rd overall pick in the third round of the draft.

Prior to being selected by the Leafs, Olsen had revealed to members of the media that he had been inspired by Domi's ability to perform in the NHL despite the challenges he faces as a diabetic. Olsen himself is a diabetic and it seems that the two men are quickly bonding from a distance over their shared struggle with the disease.

Domi quickly took to his Instagram to blast out the comments from Olsen while also adding "Congrats" for Olsen and welcoming him to the team.

Domi also shared the Instagram post in which Olsen is celebrated for overcoming the incredible challenges he faced and being drafted. If you look closely, you can even see comments from members of the Domi family who have joined Max in celebrating Olsen's amazing achievement.

As a third round pick Olsen is a long shot to make the NHL, but I know there will be at least one current Maple Leafs' player cheering him on.
