McDavid finally reveals more about his injury and how it will impact his 2019-20 season

A few weeks ago, the Edmonton Oilers announced that captain Connor McDavid was working in collaboration with top orthopedic specialists and had begun a rehabilitation protocol following the leg injury he suffered at the end of the season.

In the last game of the Oilers’ regular-season calendar, McDavid was tripped by Flames defenseman Mark Giordano and crashed knee first in to the Calgary goal post, dislodging the net on impact. He did not put any weight on his injured leg as he left the ice and was spotted leaving Calgary’s ScotiaBank Saddledome in a wheelchair.

When the Oilers made the announcement, it felt imperative that the recovery process started as fast as possible which got some fans nervous about McDavid’s status for the start of next season.

However on Tuesday, the Oilers captain himself finally commented on his injury and what it will mean for his summer training going into the 2019-20 in an interview with Jones.

“I’m working away at it but overall it’s feeling pretty good” and “I have to keep rehabbing it. I’m just hoping I can get back on the ice with enough time left this summer to work on the things I want to work on.”

McDavid was very frustrated when his team was officially ruled out of the postseason and was adamant about the important changes the Oilers need to undergo to make sure they can compete as a contender for years to come.

We bet McDavid is as hard on himself and will want to hit the ice as soon as possible to become an even better player for the Oilers - if that’s even possible.
