Battle of Alberta was exactly what he need
We only needed the battle of Alberta for the awakening of Connor McDavid.
You have to feel for the guy, before he even had played a shift in the NHL, he already had the weight of a whole organization on his shoulders. So obviously when he only has 1 goal in 4 game, which are all loses, people are going to start asking questions. Unfortunately that is how the media is, if you aren't doing well, then why? And if you are suppose to be doing well and aren't, then it gets worse.
Connor McDavid silenced a lot of critics by having a big game last night in the Oilers' 5-2 win over provincial rivals, the Calgary Flames. McDavid had 2 goals and 1 assist in just under 18 minutes played. The new line of McDavid, Nail Yakupov and Benoit Pouliot were clicking and it gave the Oilers a 1-2 punch on offense. He scored his first goal on a transition play where he got the feed out of the zone from Yakupov, went against the defenseman then use him as a screen and sneaked it by Hiller. Connor scored his second goal on the power play off a nice feed from Taylor Hall.
It was on overall solid game by the Oilers and earned Todd McLellan his first win with the Oilers.
